That Zen-Like Door Chime

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I love pretty, unique things. And when it comes to home decor I’m a bit partial to Asian themes. Japanese styles exuding calm and zen-like feel. Here’s one door chime that I find really really nice, and I’m wishing I could get my hands on one coz I’m thinking of making a tatami room once our house is renovated. There is just something so calming and serene about hearing a door chime’s gentle sounds and it reminds me of singing birds, of rustling bamboo..

Structured Yet Very Feminine Fashion

That’s Juliette Hogan’s Winter 2010 collection for you, aptly described as ‘So Pretty it Hurts’. I like trousers, jeans and boyish shirts but I still like my clothes to have a good dose of femininity. You know, I think its really overboard if you’re a girl and you go out wearing something that makes you look like you’re on testosterone booster!

But Juliette Hogan’s Winter 2010 collection is a pretty mix of masculine and structured lines but balanced with enough femininity to make it look very pretty, girly while appealing in that side of us craving for comfort! These are definitely clothes I would like to be caught wearing everyday. Though, its a winter collection I still wouldn’t mind wearing it even when its not cold.

Check out more of the collection at Juliette Hogan website.

Waiting..

I’m at the airport waiting for check in open for my flight to Legazpi Philippines. I’m racked with nerves coz there’s typhoon right now here in the Philippines and I daresay I’ve never ridden an airplane before while there is a typhoon even if its not even a strong one.

I don’t like waiting but I got to the airport early just in case they would announce any changes to the flight and now I’m waiting. Thank God, there are now a few nice enough facilities and restaurants here in Terminal 3 so I’m sitting in a cafe, blogging, eating chicken pandesal (my breakfast) and drinking tea. Why tea instead of my usual coffee? I feel really guilty I ate a lot last night and instead of thinking of getting a fat burner to drown my guilt, I’m having tea.. Hehe not exactly the same but it’ll do..

Few more minutes to check-in..

Snake Burgers, Anyone?

Would you like to have burgers made out of snake meat?  Of course, seasoned with spices, fried and of course with all natural vitamins! This is of course a specialty in a restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia. Read more and check out more photos at InventorSpot.

snake burgers

Well, I wonder how that would taste? I know after its cooked it looks pretty much like any other burger and those who have tried it say it tastes just like chicken, but hmm, I think I prefer my burgers with beef or bacon. Snakes are just not up to my taste, I think..

Need Some Privacy..

There are times that yes, I long for some privacy. Well, more often than not its chaotic in the house. And there are times I’m blogging or writing some weird fiction and I don’t like someone reading over my shoulders. Like what if I’m doing some writing research on Lipofuze and really I don’t want anyone to get the idea that I want to have a lipo..Lol!

Seriously now, there are just people who are not so polite and would constantly invade other’s privacy and space. So I think these inventions would really come in handy..

To Be Blunt..

Sometimes you have to be direct to get the message across. Some people’s minds are already muddled enough that they could not process hints and clues and would much rather respond to a direct and blunt message.

eco-friendly product

The “Stop The Water While Using Me’ is a fabulously blunt pro-environment campaign. I think its pretty refreshing to see such directness in a marketing campaign. And note that these products are also eco-friendly being all organic and completely biodegradable.

On a side note, while I was surfing the shop of the product above, this question crossed my mind, ‘What is the best acne treatment?’ Well, based on my experience, a healthy diet, exercise, a consistent skin care routine and lots and lots of rest and sleep will be more than enough to conquer acne..

Studded Christian Louboutin Flats

The name Christian Louboutin is one of those brands that evokes recognition as a fashion innovator. I love CL shoe designs and they are mostly elegant and very fashion forward. It’s no surprise now that the brand has come up with another attention-getter, a lace-up Freddie Flats.

You might say, hmmm, flats.. how boring, but wait here’s a detail that would stop you in your tracks – its majorly studded! I mean, you won’t even need  binoculars to see those studs, right? Almost guaranteed to bring you the spotlight..

Innovative Slide-Out Grills..

What’s a grill doing here in ‘trend’ blog? Don’t assume that this is your ordinary electric grills. I’m a huge admirer of innovation and great design and if this can be applied to things I could use everyday, then it is all the more appealing for me.

I’m crazy about grilled food! In fact, almost every week we have our ‘grilled food only’ lunch schedule. So here’s one innovative and very compact grill that I really, really want to get my hands on..

Mexico City Departure Lounge by Space Architects

Design, spaces, interior, architecture. Well, I’m a big trend watcher for these things. Many who know me wonder why I didn’t bother taking up interior design or architecture when I was in school, but I guess I prefer to just be the audience who appreciates. If I’m presented with a fabulous looking interior design and a designer dress, I’ll probably drool over first on the design..

And I did almost drool over this Mexico City Final Departure Lounge designed by Space Architects. Fabulous! I wouldn’t think its a departure lounge at first glance. Sleek lines, warm muted earth colors, the sense that everything is in place and you’ve got everything you’ll need right there.  I’m impressed with the private conversation booths, the phone and business nooks. The most arresting feature of this lounge for me is lighting, not your typical Kichler lighting and it looks stunning and very avant garde.

A lot of departure lounges I’ve seen have a very sterile, too modern look, but this one has that warm and inviting appeal. The only concern I have with this is the too crowded layout.

SPACE was selected from among several architecture firms to design the new final departure lounge for a recognized brand of financial services and credit cards. This project is located at terminal 2 of Mexico City airport.

The challenge was not straight-forward, the customer was looking for a design that brought together many things at the same time. The main challenges were to generate a multi-purpose space that would represent a contemporary and cosmopolitan image that summarize the brand to design a new experience, in a globalized world in which the brands and products are in a headlong race to position themselves in the minds of the customers to use built spaces as a natural extension of the brand, a complicated but vital challenge.

A specialized Branding team was used for this project, who together with the architects generated a hybrid methodology as a result of mixing Branding and architecture.

The project design concepts emerged as a consequence of a search for the definition of the brand’s “emotional promise”, that is to say that the project was developed around the idea of designing a group of well worked out emotions that would develop as a consequence of a brand experience. To be convincing, the experience would have to be a sensory experience, an experience that would include all senses and that would seek to arouse the emotions.

This space consumes around 50% of the energy that other similar spaces commonly consume, by means of openings in the ceiling that let in natural light, the design maximizes the usage of daylight in the interiors, additionally generating extremely natural and pleasant sensations.

The materials utilized in the project have a high recycled material content, and the majority of them are easily renewable.
