I have this ‘weird’ affection for all things crocheted and knitted. Some might consider this un-trendy, but I would disagree. Knitting and crocheted stuff aren’t just associated with just grannies anymore. Recent designs have made knitted products hip and trendy.
Saw this at Book of Joe and I couldn’t resist trumpeting it again. I never imagined knitted yarn could feature as pendant lighting, but this one does it with flair. And the result? A warm and cozy, unique lamp.
This lamp is actually called the Grandma Lamp. Why? Designer Georg Öhler says, “Pudelskern chose the name of this Tirolean sheep’s-wool lamp to evoke a cuddly memory of Grandma. ‘The fluffiness of the material triggers images of a safe, warm place,’ designer Georg Öhler says. The pieces are knit in the Netherlands by ‘local ladies,’ according to Öhler. ‘It’s grannies making Grannies.’”
