When I first read on a forum last January that Lady Gaga is set to be on cover of Vogue US March 2011 I was seriously/anxiously waiting for the stills. I’m not a Lady Gaga fan, but there is no denying that she is like an icon. I mean I’m currently based in Phnom Penh where people are not really much into English songs but, yeah you can still hear Lady Gaga songs being played in a lot of places. Not only that, there is even a Khmer version of Lady Gaga’s best hits?!
Lady Gaga is known not just for her music, but also for her outlandish, weird style. She’s just so daring. Always bigger than life. Which I think is part of her allure as a celebrity. But I really fail to imagine her in ‘Vogue’. And so I braced myself and thought perhaps maybe I should expect something out of this world, or maybe she’ll come out dressed with an electric blanket. I was prepared to be surprised. I had great faith though in the photographer – Mario Testino whose previous work I really admire.
And I was. Pleasantly though. The Lady Gaga is still there but a bit more tamed. And stylish. There is still the daring, outlandish feel but the overall look is nice..Styled by Tonne Goodman, and features designs of Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Haider Ackermann.
And oh, I’m in two minds about the pink wig. I can’t decide if I like it or not. But she is Lady Gaga, soo….
